The 3rd Cairo Investment Forum will be held under the patronage of H.E. Mohammad Husni Mubarak, President of the Republic of Egypt at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo on the 21st and 22nd of December 2008.

This year's third Forum, organized by Egypt's Ministry of Investment and the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) and Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, acquires added significance in view of the continuing strong growth in the Egyptian economy, the ongoing process of economic reform and the growing number and range of investment opportunities, but also the growing challenges and uncertainties in the regional and international economies.

The Forum will be attended by government ministers and high-level officials from Egypt and the Arab world, in addition to regional and international banking, investment and business leaders.

The 3rd Cairo Investment Forum will focus on the following topics:

• Latest developments in the Egyptian economy and policies required to overcome problems and challenges.
• Lingering obstacles to investment and government efforts to correct them.
• Development of the industrial sector and investment opportunities in the sector in light of the rapid growth in industrial exports.
• Plans for agricultural development in Egypt and new opportunities for investment in agriculture in view of the global food crisis
• Tourism and real estate development projects and investment opportunities.
• Development requirements and priorities in the transport sector.
• Performance of the IT sector in Egypt and prospects.
• Energy projects and the economic burden of rising oil prices
