The 2nd Maghreb Businessmen Forum

The 2nd Forum of Maghreb Businessmen will be held on 10 and 11 May 2010 under the high patronage of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in Tunisia with the slogan "The Maghreb Union Future in the hands of Businessmen".

The forum will discuss the Maghreb integration 20 years after the creation of the Arab Maghreb Union shedding the light on the role of the Maghreb businessmen in the promotion of economic cooperation and integration, the development of inter-Maghreb trade and the investment and partnership opportunities among Maghreb institutions.

The 2nd Forum of Maghreb Businessmen is organized by the Maghreb Businessmen Union and the Tunisian Union for Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts, in cooperation with Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group. It’s expected to host more than 1000 businessmen from the Maghreb countries, including ministers and high officials, as well as eminent Arab and international personalities who are concerned by the Maghreb situation. The invitation will be sent to a number of Arab groups’ leaders who invested in North Africa and other international stakeholders interested in the region.

The forum will tackle various issues of concern to the Maghreb region including the following axes:

  • The elimination of obstacles hampering the Maghreb integration and the promotion of the political will.
  • The Maghreb integration elements and the role of businessmen in building the future.
  • Investment is the backbone of the Maghreb Union and not trade.
  • The Tunisian experience as a model for Maghreb cooperation and integration.
  • The prospects of industrial integration with Algerian, Libyan, Tunisian and Moroccan initiatives and the role of Mauritania as a crossroads for development.
  • The role of banks in supporting businessmen and investment.

The forum’s agenda will include a panel on investment projects in the Maghreb and a debate with Ministers of Trade and Investment, in addition to B2B meetings.
